Ko Samet has been rainy. Intermittent showers have kept us and our wooden bungalow quite moist since our arrival. We’ve passed the time reading (the girl on the train, power of habit) and playing canasta.

Last night we splurged and drank cocktails (Tom Collins) and ate soft shell crab. Louise criticized me for refusing a second cocktail but being willing to take other substances on occasion. For some reason I don’t think it’s a fair comparison.

Rain poured all night long. We’ve seen many large, spindly spiders, and we entertained ourselves by throwing crumpled leaves into their webs. Suspecting a new victim, they pounce on the leaf as it connects with the web. After realizing the leaf isn’t edible, the arachnid carefully excited the shrub from the web, dropping the leaf to the floor and returning to the center.

The mosquitos have been relentless and I’ve donated heaps of blood to their cause. Very stoked to get to hiking in Nepal with Sam and Avi.

The water here is clear and warm. I can’t imagine it packed out as a party destination on the weekends… for now its a sleepy, drizzly island.
