Unfortunately we’re dropping like flies. Louise has plummeted to a fever and Sam followed with a cold shortly thereafter. I can feel in my throat that its starting for me as well… the timing could be worse, but getting sick immediately before leaving to volunteer is shitty timing nonetheless.

Sam Avi and I got up at 7 and rented a wide canoe to paddle out into Fewa lake. We were one of a handful of boats in the glassy water, and we paddled lazily for an hour before returning to shore for breakfast.

After eating the others returned to rest and I walked around the lakeside neighborhood. Two men stopped me, asked where I was from, and invited me into their shop to talk politics. No surprise, they were Indian. They introduced themselves as Amit and Raj… Amit seemed older, more composed. Raj was animated… Italian mannerisms with an Indian accent. They remarked that all the Americans they meet in Nepal detest Trump. I explained that the type of people that go backpacking in Nepal aren’t who got Trump elected. I wished them good luck with their jewel shop and continued on.

For lunch we ate at a falafel place for the third time in two days and looked for information on yoga and meditation classes nearby. Given my 5 month experiment with meditation in Spain I would love to dive deeper with a multi-day workshop or retreat… I’m just not sure its in the cards at the moment though.

Tonight I’m hoping we’ll walk to watch another film at the Movie Garden on the northern side of Lakeside. The bamboo framed outdoor theater screened the Lion King last night to our nostalgic delight.
